Dimmable

Low Energy Lamps have just got better!
Most Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) are not designed to be dimmable.
Most dimming systems work by reducing the voltage supplied to a lamp. If this is
used on most types of CFL the electronic circuits try to compensate by drawing
more current (amps). The results can be reduced life or even overheating and
sudden failure within days of being used in a dimmed state.
However now, following exciting new technological developments, we are pleased to
offer two types of dimmable Energy Saving Lamps:
Dimmable Energy
Savers*
– Dim with a standard dimmer to save more money and energy – the more you dim
the more you save!
Switch Dimmable*
– Dim with a standard switch: the lamp itself contains a dimmer so you can
control the brightness with a flick of any standard switch. These lamps can be used with a conventional
light switch and with normal lamp holders, meaning no change to the existing
on/off fitting and saving on any extra retrofit costs. No additional control
wiring or transformers are required for use.
*Combining the energy-saving properties of an Energy Saving Lamp
with the capacity to dim results in superb energy efficiency calculated to save
over £100 and reduce carbon emissions by more than half a tonne with every
standard light bulb replaced.*
*Approximate values based on an average usage of 3hrs per day replacing a 100w standard light bulb with a 20w Varilight Dimmable Helix energy saver rated 16,000hrs.
